  • Stephen P. Carter

    DVM

“The staffs at all the clinics are great people, as well as the doctors, and fun to be around. Growing up in Morris, I enjoy the small town living and the quality medicine we can offer our communities.” An interest in, and compassion for the well-being of each patient, from a tree frog to a Labrador makes Dr. Stephen P. Carter one of our talented veterinarians. After getting his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois in 1986, Dr. Carter completed his DVM in 1991. He is a member of the AAHA, ISVMA, AVMA, Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians. He started with our practice in 1983 as a kennel technician and rejoined as a doctor in 1993. Dr. Carter and wife, Sarah, have one daughter, Savannah and several pets: a Labrador, Tyree; a cat, Butter; and through the years have included snakes, lizards, rabbits, numerous small mammals; and a squirrel monkey named Alvin, while growing up. He enjoys reading, fly fishing and other outdoor activities in his free time. Dr. Carter also has a 'mean' drop pitch in Wiffle Ball.

  • Catherine Malon

    DVM

Dr. Catherine Malon is the newest addition to Lakewood Animal Hospital and is excited to join this awesome crew! She enjoys most aspects of general small animal practice, but especially maintaining the people-pet bond. Getting to know people and their pets is the highlight of her day. Dr. Malon grew up in Peoria, dreaming of working with horses. This took her to southern Illinois and Idaho for a few years for work before realizing veterinary medicine seemed pretty cool for her next adventure. She then pursued her degree, graduating from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She practiced in northwest Illinois, Hawaii, and Washington before relocating to north central Illinois to be closer to family. In her free time, Dr. Malon enjoys spending time with her husband and family, their two dogs, her garden, exploring the natural beauty of north central Illinois, and traveling to find new food options.
